UW Grad Student Steel Wagstaff brought some outstanding original poetry from the Writers In Prison Project workshops he volunteers for.  We also talk to author Dana Sitar, Bret Bielema, John Boehner, and MattRock.  King Tut even brought Li'l Tut by to rap about Free Will vs Determinism.  It was bound to be good.  Listen below!

Rajib Mitra focus of Isthmus cover article

Up until recently, we did our two-hour show on Sunday nights, and we knew we didn't have a whole lot of listeners.  But, we knew we'd have at least one: Mitra would be listening from the Dane County Jail.  We knew because he's write us a letter about it, almost every week.  He would write things for the Ass-Jammery, tell us about life in jail, and comment on on-air discussions.

Back in May, journalist Nathan Comp (theferalscribe.com) was writing a story about Mitra's recent suicide, and he contacted me because I wrote a letter to Judge Maryann Sumi, asking her to be lenient in Mitra's sentencing.  As we talked about Mitra, I told him Nathan about the letters.  I was working that night, and he wanted to see them so badly, he came to the Big Ten to pick them up.

This article is about Mitra and those letters.  It's a strange and sad story, but one that needed to be told.  I have always found Mitra's story to be fascinating, but its terribly interesting for me to read a well-written third-party account.  I'd be interested to hear any comments, and glad to answer any questions.
