Ass-Jammaroo-palooz-a-thon II Coming Feb 21-22

FoMSR and Fundamental Pete's Ass-Jammery are excited to announce another radio marathon / online auction to benefit WSUM!  Distinguished host Fundamental Pete and many of his classy friends will be on the air for a 22-hour-22-minute show that will end at 2:22pm on 2/22 (the 11-year anniversary of WSUM).

Last year, with the help of MANY friends, we raised over $2000!  This year, the goal is $5000.  We know we can do it, but we need your help!

We are currently accepting donations for the auction, which we'll be marketing with a  sustained station-wide effort.  For an entire week leading up to the 2:22pm deadline, we'll be promoting the online auction heavily on the air.  We'll be thanking those who donated every hour, and promoting different items available for bid.  Plus lots of social media, of course.  SO, if you would like to contribute anything (and/or know of someone who might), it would be greatly appreciated, AND you'll receive great on-air and online publicity in exchange for your donation to our non-profit.

Press Release

WSUM, Friends of Madison Student Radio, and Fundamental Pete’s Ass-Jammery

1 / April / 2012

PRESS RELEASE - For Immediate release

Peculiar College Radio Show plans Online Auction, 16-Hour Marathon Fundraiser

On Wednesday, April 4th, the three hosts of comedy-variety-college-entertainment-talk radio show Fundamental Pete’s Ass-Jammery will spend 16 straight hours in the broadcast studio, promoting an online auction they’ve organized to raise money for WSUM (the UW-Madison college radio station).  Items up for auction have been collected through generous community donations, and include:

  • ·      Beers at the Rathskellar with former Madison mayor Dave Cieslewiscz
  • ·      An autographed book collection of Wisconsin State Journal Columnist Doug Moe
  • ·      Concert and event tickets, clothing, books, DVDs, CDs, massage services, and more

The three volunteer hosts of the marathon share a strong affinity for the station, which celebrated its 10-year Anniversary on February 22.  “WSUM is a great asset to the community and it also enriches the lives of those involved in keeping WSUM on the air,” gushed Kathy Dittrich.  “I know there would be a hole in my heart without WSUM. Every week I look forward to being on air and to producing content for the radio. Being on the radio is a lot of fun and it's possible because of WSUM.  My life would be empty without the Snake on the Lake."

Of course, this sort of enthusiasm hasn’t prevented a few pre-show jitters.  “I just realized this is going to be, like, eight of our regular shows,” said a glazed-over Pete Hnilicka.  “What the hell was I thinking?  What are we going to talk about for 16 hours?”

“This is going to be like the Boston Marathon,” concurred Chris Tuttle, “except there are no winners.  And no-one finishes covered in their own diarrhea.”

“I hope you’re right,” Hnilicka solemnly nodded.  “I hope you’re right.”

A cavalcade of guests will visit the studio during Wednesday’s 8am-midnight jaunt, (dubbed Ass-Jammaroo-palooz-a-thon I) which can be heard live on 91.7fm in Madison, or streamed from wsum.org.  The auction is currently open for bidding at 32auctions.com/wsum.
